First critique! So let's get this show on the road! First of all, I'd like to start out by saying that this is a really amazing piece of art. I love the depth you gave to the hair, especially with the light reflecting off of it, giving it a sort of metallic look. Also, I think the shading on his face and neck is really good. There are two things I think you could improve on a little though. The eyes seem a little flat to me, and the lines of the hairline and the top of the hair seem a bit messy compared with the clean lines of the rest of the face. Keep up the great work!
The light source is believable, and I like how Zane is looking mournfully towards it; as if he's reflecting upon the good times he had before his sanity was lost.
The mysterious, dark background is a nice touch, seeing as the viewer can't tell whether he's in a dark room, or vast realm of loneliness. The same could be said for his distant eyes.
You have achieved great form with the shadows and highlights; this drawing feels like more than just a flat image. But my only suggestion is that you use stronger, more defined (not blurred) shadows when the source hat casts them is closer (like the hairline, under his lips and nose, etc.).
This is only a simple suggestion; but if you're want to add more to the feeling of sorrow (which I assume you're trying at), you could probably experiment with using "cold" blues in the secondary light source, or even in his shadow, rather than using one colour with corresponding shades and tints. (But don't worry, I'd do the same most of the time).
The more brownish-orange hair colour you've chosen makes Zane look more or less like (don't kill me) Justin Bieber. But the hair colour is really up to you; I'm just basing it off the Lego piece's pale "bleached" look.
Well then, great job on this! I can definitely see that you're trying hard at improving, and I'd say that your efforts are paying off! Keep up the good work, and have a nice day~
I'm scared to write a critique. I think this is epic, but Zane looks sad. You should have drawn him with a crazy laughing face THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO AWESOME
